Samagri for havan
Thali (big metal plate) for aarti. Pack in cellophane 15 sweet suhali and 125 saltless subali and keep in a cane basket. Keep a saree on top of this and give this to the sister-in-law.
Goldsmith (sunar) is called to pierce the ears.
Ceremony: Neg
The parents of the groom sit with angavastra and pallav tied (gathjoda).
The panditji performs the havan. A young girl's ears are pierced with gold wire by the goldsmith. On the subali basket, a saree is kept and given to the sister/bua. Aarti is performed by sister/bua. Neg is given.
Money for chaat is given to nevgi. Pagalagni (the groom's mother gives money to the elder ladies of the family after doing pranaam). Lunch consists of dal, rice, roti and green veg (kacchi rasoi). First, the choodha is taken out and then only the family members are served food. The misrani sings related ceremonial songs. She is given money.
Note: In many homes, this is an elaborate function. As in a wedding, bhaat nyothna and bhaat bharna is conducted. sirgoothi and chuda pehenana ceremony for the mother is also performed.
